A cyclist has died in Newham after involving in a collision with a car whose driver failed to stop.
The accident happened on Friday, July 24 on Romford Road, at its junction with Crosby Road, E7.
The police and ambulance arrived at the scene at 03:19hrs.
The cyclist was rushed to the hospital in a critical condition.
He was pronounced dead on Saturday, July 25.
The victim has been identified as 31-year-old Jay Kristiansen from Romford.
The police said his next of kin have been informed and a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.
Detectives have reportedly arrested a man in his 20s on suspicion of failing to stop at the scene of a collision and causing death by dangerous driving.
The driver of the car had refused to stop at the scene of the accident which led to the investigation by the Serious Collision Investigation Unit.
He has been granted bail and to return on a date in August.
Meanwhile, the police have continued to appeal to the public with useful information to step forward.
