A man has been arrested following the death of an 89-year-old woman in Croydon.
The police and the London Ambulance Service were called to Brigstock Road, Thornton Heath, on Tuesday, 21 June, around 21:20 after the woman was stabbed.
The woman was found dead at a residential address and later the police arrested a 30-year-old man at another address in Croydon. He is taken into police custody.
The police said the woman's family had been informed and would be supported by specialist officers.
Formal identification and a post-mortem examination will be arranged in due course.
An investigation has been launched following the death, and the man in custody is known to the victim.
Investigators are not currently looking for any other suspect in connection with the death.
