Isleworth Crown Court has jailed a man for five-and-a-half years for crimes he committed in 2019.
Barry Whittle, 20, stabbed a good samaritan who attempted to stop him from robbing a supermarket in West Drayton.
Whittle, who resided in Peplow Close, Hillingdon before his address was sentenced on Tuesday, July 7 for GBH and multiple counts of robbery and possession of a knife.

The convict was arrested in West Drayton on October 17, 2019, after he stabbed a member of the public at a supermarket in Chantry Close.
Whittle robbed the supermarket of alcohol for a period of two weeks before he was finally stopped.
According to Police recounts, the convict had proceeded to the supermarket with a knife to steal nine bottles of Vodka.
He threatened the supermarket security with a knife and attempted to flee the scene before a shopper who was with his daughter grabbed him.
During a scuffle, Whittle reportedly stabbed the man on the shoulder before he assaulted the man’s teenage daughter who joined to assist to restrain him, before fleeing the scene.
It was gathered that it wasn’t the first time Whittle had stolen items from the supermarket and each event, he armed himself with a knife or a screwdriver.
On October 6, the convict was also accused of breaking into a car that was parked in Fray’s Avenue, West Drayton and also using a stolen card to buy items from the newsagent.
Speaking on the issue, a detective from West Area CID, Sergeant Reda Imane said “A dangerous man will now spend a significant amount of time behind bars. Whittle armed himself with a knife and had no qualms in threatening members of staff or using it against a member of the public who attempted to stop him.
“He plagued staff at the supermarket he targeted, no doubt putting them in genuine fear with his actions. I hope his prison sentence offers them, and those who stood up to him, some reassurance.”
On November 21, 2019, Whittle pleaded guilty at Isleworth Crown Court to attempted robbery – supermarket on Chantry Close, West Drayton on 3 October 2019, theft and fraud – Frays Avenue, on 6 and 7 October 2019; robbery and possession of a bladed article – supermarket on Chantry Close on October 11, 2019; two counts of robbery and three counts of possession of blade article; possession of bladed article – supermarket on High Street, West Drayton on October 16, 2019; robbery; possession of bladed article; GBH and assault at the supermarket on Chantry Close on October 17, 2019.
