Met Officer In Critical Condition After Hit-and-run

A Met officer has been rushed to the hospital after a driver slammed into them before driving off.

The police said a woman has been arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run.

The incident happened in Grays, Essex this morning around 8 am.

The police officer’s injury is believed to be life-threatening.

Essex police said the woman who was later arrested, failed to stop when asked to do so by the officer.

At the time the driver of the vehicle stopped, the vehicle had collided with the officer as they approached the car, before driving speedily from the scene.

The Police said the 45-year-old woman from Chadwell St. Mary, Essex was arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent, and causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and failing to stop.

A 22-year-old man from Grays was also arrested for perverting the course of justice.
