murder Probe Launched After Woman's Body Found At An Address In Newham

A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder in Newham on Sunday, 26 December 2021.

He was arrested after a woman's body, believed to be in her 20s, was found at an address.

Police were called to Earlham Grove, E7, at 11:56hrs on Sunday after concerns were raised for the welfare of an occupant, according to police statement.

Upon arrival, officers found the body of the woman at the address.

Detectives are working to establish her identity and inform her next of kin.

The 26-year-old man was arrested at the scene and remain in police custody.

The police believed that the arrested man and the deceased were known to each other.

A crime scene has been put in place.

Homicide detectives from the Met's Specialist Crime Command are leading the investigation.

A post-mortem examination will be scheduled in due course as the enquiry continues.

Investigators are appealing for information from anyone who may have witnessed or been privy to the incident.
