A murder investigation has been launched after a shooting in Brixton.
Police were called at 01:14hrs on Saturday, 2 May, following reports that multiple shots had been fired on Coldharbour Lane, Brixton.
Within minutes, officers were at the scene, including specialist crime officers and the London Ambulance Service.
A man with a gunshot wound was found and rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The police have identified the deceased as 25-year-old Keanu.
His next of kin have been informed and supported by specialist officers.
Three others, aged 21, 47 and 70, were also taken to the hospital, but their conditions are non-life-threatening.
Investigators have not made any arrests, but are working at a pace to identify those responsible.
The leading detective, Chief Inspector Allam Bhangoo, said, “As we work quickly to identify those responsible, our thoughts are with Keanu’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.
“This was a shocking act of violence which has had a devastating impact on those involved and the local community. I want to reassure residents that we are working urgently to identify and apprehend those responsible.
“It is vital that anyone who saw what happened, or has any information or footage, comes forward. Even the smallest detail could prove crucial to our investigation.
“Local residents will continue to see an increased police presence in the area over the coming days. If you have any concerns, please speak to officers.”
The family of the deceased described Keanu as a “loving son, brother, uncle, nephew, grandson and friend. Everyone loved him, and his smile would light up a room.
“Keanu had the world at his feet, and he’s left a huge hole in our family, our hearts are absolutely broken.”
Police are appealing to anyone with information or footage that could assist them and urge them to contact 101, quoting CAD 557/2 May. Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously via an independent charity, Crimestoppers or 0800 555 111.
