Police Launch Investigation After A Woman In Her 20s Shot In Southwark

A woman in her 20s has been shot in Southwark.

The incident happened shortly before 03:00hrs on Sunday on Consort Road, SE15.

Officers and London Ambulance Service were called to the scene and found a woman suffering from a gunshot injury.

Detectives have now launched an investigation into the incident as the woman remains in a life-threatening condition.

The investigation is led by Met's Specialist Crime Command (Trident).

Detective Chief Inspector Jimi Tele said:"We are all hoping that this young woman's condition improves. Our investigation is in its early stages, and urgent enquiries are underway to establish the circumstances.

"I would appeal to the residents of Consort Road and the surrounding area to check any doorbell or dashcam footage for any suspicious activity that may relate to this investigation."

The police said no arrest has been made, but there is a massive police presence in the area as enquiries continue and a number of roads are currently closed.
