Two charged with the murder of a man in Chingford

Two people who self-presented themselves to a South London police station have been charged with the death of a man in Chingford.

George-Elvis Tobosaru, 22, of no fixed address and Violeta Ionesu, 21, of no fixed address, were charged on Friday, 17 February, with murder.

They appeared at Croydon Magistrates Court today, Saturday, 18 February.

Police's attention were called to a man wounded man near Walthamstow Avenue, Chingford, around 21:09hrs on Wednesday, 15 February.

Police attended alongside London Ambulance Service, and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man's identity has been identified. However, they were unable to contact his next of kin.

Tobosaru and Ionescu self-presented themselves at the station and were arrested early on Thursday, 15 February.

Detectives from the Met's Specialist Crime Command were leading the investigation.

A crime scene remains in place.

Detectives are urging people with information or who witnessed the incident to call 101, quoting CAD7445/15FEB.
