police launch murder investigation, arrest 74-year-old man
A woman has been found dead in her home in Ealing.
Officers were called at 18:39hrs on Sunday, 25 June, to concerns for the welfare of a woman at a residential property in Harold Road, NW10.
Officers attended with London Ambulance Service and found a 77-year-old woman dead at the scene.
Police arrested a 74-year-old man at the scene on suspicion of murder. He was taken to hospital due to concerns for his health.
A special post-mortem on Tuesday, 27 June, shows that the woman died of a head injury.
The suspect and the victim were known to each other, the police investigators disclosed in a statement on Wednesday.
A murder investigation has been launched, and detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command are conducting further enquiries to establish the circumstances.
Detective Superintendent Rebecca Reeves of the Met’s West Area Command said: “I know that local people will be shocked by this incident, and additional foot patrols are being conducted to reassure the community.
“Our colleagues from the Specialist Crime Command are progressing their investigation. One person has been arrested, and we aren’t seeking anyone else in connection with this incident.
“I encourage anyone with conc
erns to speak with officers on patrol or contact their neighbourhood policing team.
“Our thoughts are very much with the victim’s family.”
