President Donald Trump and his wife, Melania Trump are self-isolating after testing positive for Coronavirus.

The President and the US First Lady tweeted about their current status on Friday morning.

A Counsellor to the President, Hope Hicks, 31, had reportedly tested positive for the virus on Thursday after she travelled with the President to a rally.

Mr Trump had tweeted after the news of his employee emerged that

In a tweet after the news emerged, the President said: “Hope Hicks, who has been working so hard without even taking a small break, has just tested positive for COVID 19. Terrible!

Over two hours later, Mr Trump himself disclosed via his usual channel that they were waiting for test result while they proceed to quarantine.

“The First Lady and I are waiting for our test results. In the meantime, we will begin our quarantine process!” he tweeted.

Ms Hicks has travelled with the President on numerous occasions just during the last week – presidential helicopter Marine One, and on Air Force One to Tuesday night’s first presidential debate.

Speaking to Fox News, Mr Trump seems to cast the blame on the law enforcement officials and soldiers.

He said “It’s very, very hard when you are with people from the military or from law enforcement and they come over to you and they want to hug you and they want to kiss you,” he told Fox News

“You get close and things happen.”

Meanwhile, White House spokesperson Judd Deere said in a statement that “The president takes the health and safety of himself and everyone who works in support of him and the American people very seriously.

“White House Operations collaborates with the physician to the president and the White House Military Office to ensure all plans and procedures incorporate current CDC guidance and best practices for limiting COVID-19 exposure to the greatest extent possible both on complex and when the president is travelling,” he added.

The global pandemic, which the President has tagged “China flu” has killed more than 200,000 Americans and over 1,000,000 globally.

Trump had Fox News that he and his wife had tested positive for the Coronavirus and would know the status by the end of the week.

“I spend a lot of time with Hope, and so does the first lady. And she’s tremendous,” he said, adding that he was surprised to hear Ms Hicks had tested positive for the virus.

“She knows there’s a risk, but she’s young,” he said.

Ms Hicks quit the White House as a communications director in 2018 but returned in early 2020 as an adviser, this time, under the President’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner.

Donald Trump had played down the severity of the virus in previous months despite admitting to journalist Bob Woodward back in February that the virus is “like anything we have ever seen”

During a Press conference, the President suggested to the America people that injesting bleach could kill the virus.

He said in April that the virus will ‘miraculously disappeared’ while trying to blame China, saying ‘it should never have happened’
