According to the company post, an extreme right-wing host, Tucker Carlson, is no longer with Fox News media.

It is unclear whether the separation has anything to do with the trial that forced the parent company Fox Corp to pay $787.5m (£632m) to Dominion Voting System over its coverage of the 2020 US election.

Tucker Carlson, whose actual position about the election and the former President of the United States, Donald Trump, was leaked, had been expected to testify in the trial.

Dominion accused Fox News and Tucker Carlson of making defamatory statements during his shows.

The Voting company argued that the leaked statement from Carlson and his colleagues showed that they knew the falsehood they perpetrated were lies and that their ballot-counting machine was not used to manipulate votes for Joe Biden.

Fox News had said Carlson’s last program was Friday without giving an immediate explanation why Carlson was leaving.

“Fox News Tonight” will air live at 8pm EST (1am Tuesday UK time) starting this evening as an interim show helmed by rotating Fox News personalities until a new host is named, the network added.

“We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor,” the press release from Fox News said.
