Rudy Giuliani, President Donald Trump’s controversial lawyer has reportedly tested positive for COVID-19.
Mr Trump tweeted this on Sunday evening via his verified handle.
The former Mayor of New York City has repeatedly exposed himself to COVID-19 through contact with infected people, including during Mr Trump’s preparation for his presidential rally.
Trump tweeted “@RudyGiuliani, by far the greatest mayor in the history of NYC, and who has been working tirelessly exposing the most corrupt election (by far!) in the history of the USA, has tested positive for the China Virus. Get better soon Rudy, we will carry on!!!”
Giuliani, 76, has been at the forefront in the effort to overturn the just concluded Presidential election in Trump’s favour.
He has claimed without evidence that the election was rigged in favour of the Democratic candidate Joe Biden, and on several occasions, he has failed to prove his case at the various courts.
It is not clear why Mr Trump was the one who announced Giuliani’s COVID-19 status but the controversial lawyer’s age put him in a higher risk position.
