The incident, which happened at about 14.30 on Monday, was live=streamed on Youtube by a witness.

The Boulder police department had tweeted about 20 mins later, confirming that there had been an “active shooter at the King Soopers on Table Mesa street”.

The police warned people to avoid the area and not to broadcast on social media any tactical information they might witness.

The Boulder Police also named the officer who was shot at the scene as 51-year-old Eric Talley, one of the first responders to the scene.
